I feel her imaginative and powerful illustration is poignant for a time when the female sex and the vagina is once again being seen as unmentionable not only because it is supposedly dirty and improper, but also mysteriously demonic and terrifying because (did you know?) mention of the vagina can cause death to the vulnerable!
