This postcard is inspired by a line from Clarissa Pinkola Estes' book, Women Who Run With the Wolves: “Asking the proper question is the central action of transformation- in fairy tales, in analysis, and in individuation. The key question causes germination of consciousness. ... Questions are the keys that cause the secret doors of the psyche to swing open.”
In the painting, the question is like a spider. Many feminists, like Mary Daly, use the language of "spinning and weaving" to talk about growth and transformation. In this image, the spider is like a tickle in the gut, prompting us to formulate the question that will lead to growth.
